Few weeks? Any of the local parks are decent. If you dont mind moving a couple of times. Tumalo or Lapine state parks are nice.

Tumalo State Park is pretty nice...reservations recommended in summer (though you don't say when you're going)

As for Bend itself, it's not the laid-back place I knew when I grew up in Oregon. It's gotten pretty gentrified over the last fifteen years or so, but then I hear the same thing about Boulder!

Crown Villa Resort has to be one of the nicest campgrounds I have ever been in.

X2 on Crown Villa. Be aware of the route you take to get there because of low height clearance as you approach the CG from one direction. Also, it may have a 10 year rule. Call ahead for info. This IS the nicest CG I have been to. Worth the price.

Love Crown Villa...They are very accmodating if you have problems. We broke our tv there once and they changed someone else's reservation so that we didn't have to move, then had someone else follow the tow truck to the repair shop so that I could get back to the tt.

We will be in Bend for several days in June staying at Crown Villa. For those of you who have been there before, what were some of your favorite things to do in area? Besides eating that is!

I live in Bend, so feel free to ask any questions, but some of the highlights (depending on your interests)

Beer - lots of breweries here, check out the bend ale trail
Cascade lakes highway - great 2-3 hour drive up in the high cascades
Pilot butte - walk or drive up pilot butte for a great view.
High desert museum - good place to kill a half day
Deschutes river - depending on weather, a float along the deschutes river is fun.

Crown villa is the best park here. It's about 4-5 miles from the downtown area.

Another do not miss is the pilot butte drive-in and their bleu cheese burger, fries and a shake. We fantasized about that several years ago when we did the Three Sisters wilderness trail.
Of course there's the burger, fries and shakes at Fields , south of French Glen.
