Benson AZ to Austin TX

Hello everyone,

I am heading from Benson AZ to Austin TX. I would like to do the trip in 3 to 4 days of driving and not planning on stopping or seeing anything along the way.

I would like to get some suggestions for staying the night along the way. I am open to rv parks, boon docking, truck stops or wally docking as long as they are safe places to stay. I have a 45 foot coach.

Would anyone have some suggestions. I would like to drive between 250 to 350 miles per day. I can drive further if needed.

Thanks in advance,

Stuart

check allstays.com for wally worlds and other places that welcome overnight RV parking as well as Indian casinos, state parks, etc.

The rvparky app comes in handy. Has parks as well as wally worlds. Also it will have a link for reviews on the internet.

We just got back into Sierra Vista last week from San Antonio. We stopped at the Hilltop RV Park in Fort Stockton and at the KOA in Las Cruces. Both parks were situated on top of a hill overlooking the area. They are nice safe parks that had large coaches such as your's,

We have done the reverse several times. Have stopped at Hilltop in Ft Stockton as well. Have stayed at the KOA in Van Horn a couple times on the return trip. We will be making this trip again in 11 days. Hilltop the 1st night and Cochise Terrace in Benson on the 2nd night.

Texas Rest Stops are quite good to overnight in. I didn't like overnighting in the picnic stops (no particular reason just me) but the rest stops are great

Completed a round trip from San Antonio to Tucson (Escapees Boot Camp/Escapade) in early March. Due to a late start on day one spent the night in Walmart Ft. Stockton (a popular location!), and on the way home a night in KOA in Van Horn. KOA had a small cafe on premises with decent breakfast. Multiple restaurants in Ft. Stockton should you want a night out. No issues at either location. We're in a 40' MH towing the CR-V toad.

I assume your going to shoot across I-10.

Just east of El Paso, in Van Horn texas. Large pull throughs, easy in and out.

Mt View RV park. Very friendly, They have a huge sign out front, can't miss them.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

If you happen to get off at Junction, TX to fuel your rig you may want to have lunch/dinner at Cooper's BBQ restaurant. The food is delicious.

The original Cooper's is in Llano, about 75 mi east. They have since opened in New Braunfels, Ft Worth, and soon open in Austin. I wasn't aware they were in Junction too.

The Cooper's in Junction is not the same company as the ones in Llano and Ft. Worth. We made that mistake thinking they were the same. We were not impressed with the Junction Cooper's.

Thank you all for your input and suggestions.
We have decided to take three days to get to Austin. Our plan is to stay the first night at Sunland Race Track and Casino, near El Pass. They have RV sites with water and electric with a nearby dump station. All we will use is the electric. For the sake of speed and convience the second night we will stay at either a truck stop or rest area in it near Junction, TX.

I will report on how it goes.

Stuart
