Best Place To Stay Near Mt Rushmore

We will be in the area this August and plan to spend a few days. Any suggestions where to stay?

We stayed at the KOA which is the closest RV park to the park. It is the nicest KOA we have ever stayed at. Nice store, restaurant, nice shops, 2 great pools, car rental if needed, good playground & a morning pancake breakfast.

French Creek RV park. One block off of the main street in Custer. Good location. A little tight but your up at 5200FT sea level and its about 10 degrees cooler and its 3 miles South of Crazy Horse Monument.

Going to stay at the Rafter J Ranch later this year. It's in Hill City.

Stayed at Whispering Pines in Silver City. Nothing fancy, nice people, beautiful roads and scenery.

You do know about Sturgis Bike Week in August? You don't want to get caught in that unless you ride.

Rafter J is the place to stay, by far the best of anything in the area, we stayed there last June, we liked it so much we stayed on an extra day.

I've stayed at Rushmore KOA in Hill City. Closest park to Mount Rushmore. Very nice place to enjoy the Black Hills area. The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is the first full week of August and rates may be higher at that time.

Enjoy your trip wherever you stay!!!

Regards, Hamshog
