Best route from Cody, WY to Livingston, MT

What is the best scenic route from Cody to Livingston? Can you go through YNP, if so which route? How long a drive. Or go north out of Cody to avoid YNP?

Go South thru Co into NM and then West thru Tx and South to Livingston Tx and enjoy best State in Union.

For some of the best advice (along with some great photos) for traveling in that area, go to www.rvcruzer.com. He has an entire section on his web site devoted to best RV routes in that part of the country.

I think the drive through YNP would be doable but it won't be fast. There is a lot of traffic to begin with and then you will have all sorts of jams to slow you down.

If you're in Cody and have time, do the Beartooth Highway/Chief Joesph Scenic Highway loop. Spectacular! You can't the the MH though.

It looks like the distance is about the same either way, about 180 miles.
