Best South Carolina beach camp ground

We are looking for a vacation spot,, in South Carolina, near or on the beach,,, don't want big city stuff,, but want basic hook ups.. Might move there some day,,, would like to check it out... We both like the ocean,, but don't want the price of Florida... Idea's on a one-three day camping spot ??? No going to shows or such,,, just camping and enjoying life... Thanks bunches...

We have camped many times at Myrtle Beach Travel Park located between Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach. All the area around Myrtle Beach will be busy from Mid June to about the 2nd weekend in Aug. There are 5 major campgrounds (3 south & 2 north) in the Myrtle Beach area, along with 3-4 smaller parks. Here are a few pics from that park.

I have a few co-workers here in Northern OH. who are planning on moving to SC or NC for retirement. Actually going in-land 30-60 minutes from the beach you will find very affordable real-state, and have some protection from hurricanes.

We spent a week at Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina this past January and absolutely loved it. The price is reasonable if you stay at least 4 days and most sites are private and shaded. There is a lot to do in the area, and the resort is far enough from the main road that you just don't hear traffic.

Have stayed in Myrtle Beach State Park many times. They book up early for summer months. Always enjoyed my times there. They have many large sites. If you golf look for the deals. Many to be had.

I was able to book two weekends in June last week for Myrtle Beach state park. In between we are going to Ocean Lakes. So a weekend of peace, a week of crazy, the another weekend of peace. Can't wait!

All the SC state parks can be reserved online, with a complete description of each site with pictures. Very nice website.

x2 We spent 2 weeks there last April, every site is different and the resort is one of the cleanest and well maintained resorts we have been to. When you arrive after going in the office you get into one of thier golf carts and take a ride around the resort and pick out what site you want, how cool is that! We were lucky to get lot #62 on the water with the marina out front, we were glad we spent the extra money for the water front site
