Big Rig Parks near Mt. Rushmore
I'm planning a trip to Mt. Rushmore and I'm hoping to get some input on campgrounds that are big rig friendly. We have a 43' MH with an F-150 Toad.
Any suggestions?
TIA,
John P.

I haven't been there in years (funny though, we plan on going back in September). A few miles down the highway, west of the monument, was a nice campground with a creek running through it. IIR it was named Mt Rushmore RV Park. That's what I'll be shooting for this next trip.

We like, and have stayed at many times, the Rafter-J-Bar. It's central to everything you'll want to see and do in the area.

I 'Think' that's the same park I was talking about. Just had a different name 15 years ago. I think. I really liked that park and its location. Funny......it was a lot cheaper back then!!

If you like KOA, their is a nice one just down the road from Mt. Rushmore, we stayed there last year during Sturgis and already have our spot reserved for Sturgis this year. Nice facilities, ice cream shop, and Wine tasting every evening (wife loves that) and close to everything.
Mt. Rusmore KOA at Palmer Gulch Resort.

Hart Ranch is one of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed in anywhere.

Hart Ranch is 30 minutes away from Mt Rushmore on a mostly scenic route. About an hour from Deadwood. Not a problem

The Steel Wheel RV park. Six miles south of Deadwood. Newer rv park. Good power and water with full hookups and pull thur sites big enough for your rig. Passport America rates are great. It's not an rv resort but close to all the sights. No cable but My tailgater worked good. No ATT cell service. No internet. Very quite after dark.

We have reservations at Heartland RV park in July. It seems to have good reviews and is pretty close to the park. Does anyone here have any experience with this campground?
