the place looked okay but the interior roads were on the small side and I'm not sure "big rig" ready, perhaps there was more to it than what I saw. Oh, and the water and electric hookups looked funny, with water on one side and electric on the other, strange.

Red Gate Campground - not my idea of a place to camp, I was there at around 1:30 pm and there were maybe 5 rigs and no one in office and no one to ask questions of. Just an open field with a few palm trees, no shade in field.

Sunshine RV Park, not bad, good deal on monthly rate, 450.00 per month that includes the electric.

Never did find Savannah Oaks but was running out of time.

Hope that helps others.
Thanks Afubar,

Valuable to get info from someone who has been there. Really appreciate yo updating the thread.

We found that Fort McAlister State Park was, by far, the best place near Savannah.
Stayed there last summer. Short drive to historic district.

Thanks for the link. Not available on the dates I am there, but it does look like a great place. I will keep checking up to my travel date to see if there are cancellations.

Thanks,

Drew.

Ft. McAllister is great. Roads are a little tight for big rigs but doable, loads of history but watch out for the coons at night!

I just booked a spot at Skidaway Island State Park (lots of availability), and is closer to DT Savannah. Interesting that they'd have lots of availability at Skidaway, but none at McAllister. Must be a group event or something at McAllister.

Reviews on Skidaway are good, so looking forward to it!
