There are basically only two campgrounds close to Binghamton. The full service CG (W/E/S) is Pine Valley CG. It is a little north of Endicott. The second one is a Chenango Valley State Park and is located a bit west of Binghamton. There are a few others as you get further from the city. Be sure to call for reservations at either place since Summer is crowded....

If you plan on going in the future check out Hickories Park in Owego, its about 10 minutes outside of Binghamton but is beautiful. This year they had to do renovations due to flood damage but it should be open again by next year!

Try Tall Pines Campground, Bainbridge, NY - Family Camping at the Edge of the Catskills- Riverfront Campsites, Canoe Livery, RV Rentals, Restaurant, Antique Refinishing & Sales, Country Store, Ice Cream & Soda Fountain.
The Nor Easters had a rally there a couple of years ago and several use it for week end getaways.
It is a very nice C/G however, over the 4th holiday a few jerks ruined it for our friends there. Their kids kept cutting through their site and when they put the picnic table to block them they actually climbed right over it.
I'm sure it was a one time incident but make sure the owners (they're on site and run the operations) know you are aware and don't want the site that has(had) the problem. Because they are such caring folks who run a very nice place, I'd bet the problem has been fixed.

You can't fix STUPID.... On the holiday weekends, a lot of 'strange' people come out and cause grief with the more experienced campers. Maybe it is too many 'adult berverages' being consumed that the people leave the kids to run free and raise h*ll.
