Blackhawk Valley RV Park Rockford, IL
We stayed in this park on the outskirts of Rockford, IL on the way to and from North Central MN to visit an old shipmate and another couple that moved there after retiring as a Delta captain.
It seems to be a bad area when you get off the expressway (lots of shuttered store-fronts) but it's down a surprisingly rural road near the Rockford Intl Airport. It has elec and water hookups and a very clean dump station. The area is sandy and the Kiswaukee River borders the seasonal sites. If you have dogs they will pick up the sand as they come into the coach but I would definitely stay there again. Very friendly hosts and a small convenience store at the camp. We did have quite a few mosquitoes pester us but for somewhere handy before or after tackling Chicago area traffic it's ideally located.
