Anyone have a suggestion on a big rig friendly RV park in the area? My son is getting married there in June.

Julian Price Campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway is a nice campground. It's the only one I have ever stayed at in the area. However we camped here in a tent. I know they have rv spaces & some very long sites. I do not know what hook ups they have. It is only about 6 miles out side on Blowing Rock.

As dsbike said, Julian Price Park campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway would be worth checking out. No hookups but they do have a dump station. Threaded water faucets are available every few sites, so you can stop at one and fill your tank as you drive in or use the fresh water available at the dump station. We see big rigs there every time we go, some in Loop A, many in the loops on the other side of the road. It's about 10 minutes from Blowing Rock. This is one of our two favorite campgrounds on the Parkway.

We've stayed at Grandfather Campground (from the other thread) as well, nice place, full hookups, relatively large sites but little landscaping/trees between sites. No problem with big rigs, but it is about a half an hour from Blowing Rock.

There's another park close to Blowing Rock called Buffalo Camp RV Park. We've never stayed there, the website says they're seasonal but have overnight camping "when available". I've never heard of it and have not driven by, but Google maps does show some sites.

Check out Indian Springs CG here in Hickory NC. We're here right now. Full service, reasonable and nice people. Not crowded, only 26 sites but plenty of room for anything you can drive. Not sure exactly where Blowing Rock is other than its nearby. We got off I-40 at exit 119 to come here. Good Luck

Tom Johnson Campground in Marion is nice and very big rig friendly. It is about an hour drive from there to Blowing Rock. If I remember correctly, about $35 a night for full hookups. There are a lot of places to check out within about an hour from there such as the Biltmore House, Chimney Rock, Blueridge Parkway and others. If you like bbq, check out Woodlands BBQ in Blowing Rock.

I agree with Tom Johnson's, they are even having the ACA National Rally there in April.

Hi, I lived in Boone/blowing rock,area and still have family there. I agree with either Grandfather Mtn or Hickory. Forget Blowing Rock and Boone. None of them have sites big enough for your coach. I have been unable to find sites there that will fit a 39ft. Also Lots of road construction on highway 321.
It is a beautiful area, enjoy. Grandfather Mtn and Hickory are close easy drives under 30 -45 minutes.

Mountain View is a beautiful high end park (now in the middle of a major expansion). We've not stayed there, but have toured through it. It was designed for big rigs, so no problem there. The only advice I'd give is, follow their directions for getting there. Most of the access highways are very narrow with sharp switchbacks that will have you blocking both sides of the road as you navigate them.

I'd stay away from julian price. No hookups, which is fine, but very tight and roads are a mess. Lots of overhanging tree branches as well. 45ft would not fit comfortably if at all.
