The review:
Welcome to Blue Bear Mountain!
We stayed here 3/2-3/4
Boon-docked as the power isn't connected, yet. Will be soon!
Steve is a nice guy and more than happy to help. Even brought water up to us in his car. They have some great plans for the campground.
First the good news!
It's currently a work in progress, but it's going to be a fun place to return too. There's about 10 RV sites. The scenery is nice with long range views and being at 4,000+ feet doesn't hurt. There's hiking trails and open fields, a total of 150 acres. Power will be available, once the electrician gets there, 50, 30, and 20amp at the post. Some sites are wooded others have little cover.
This is a campground, not a resort, so no pool, no playgrounds, just woods and fields.(yeah!) There's a nice bath house with an outside sink for campers to clean their dishes. There still working on the small store and office. Lots of tent camp sites both wooded and remote. Each site has pick-nick tables and some have fire pits(for the rv sites) and almost all the tent sites have them. They even put in a very nice "out house" for the remote tent sites. This will be a great place to bring the RV and let the kids or relatives tent camp. Wi-fi will be added in the future. Verizon wireless worked fine.
Now the not so good, for some people anyway.
You get there on a dirt road, so be prepared for that. It wasn't rough or rutted, but a little tight in places. They're working with the county to try and get some improvements, but you know how quickly that get's done. I wouldn't bring big rigs at this time, unless your very comfortable driving them. Make sure you have one of the big sites reserved.
No water or sewer at the sites. There is a dump station and water will be available, once the electrician shows up. The sewer is a local reg, so I don't see them ever being able to add them at each site.
The sites are gravel, so bring pads for the levelers. They're still grading them out and making adjustments, but we were able to back in and get level. Make sure to check on the size of the site, some are smaller than others.
It's a new place so there will be some growing pains, but this will be a place we return to.
