I am reading all of the posts with great interest, we are planning a trip in September 2016 to the Keys and we are planning to stay at Blue Water Key some of the time we are there. We are taking our grown niece and nephew who have never been to the Keys. We would appreciate additional recommendations for RV parks in the upper Keys as part of our trip. We like to snorkel, and fish as well as see the sights. We will all be in a 34 TGA, so we will need full hookups. We will be in the Keys about 2 weeks. Any recommendations or information you can give us is greatly appreciated,we would really like to show them a good time.

Just remember that September is the height of hurricane season, so if one is coming - you will have to change your plans or get out of the keys well before they really know where it is going. Only one road in and one out!

September is my favorite month here in the Keys. It's kind of the in between season, kids are back in school and snow birds are still up north. The weather is usually pretty good as the air and water temps are still warm and after August it is one of the least windy months which makes it good for being on the water.
Some restaurants close down for a couple weeks in Sept. for cleaning and vacations since it's a slow tourist month. Around the 3rd weekend in Sept. is bike week in Key West with the Peterson Poker Run and Women's fest week usually follows that.
If your going to try and stay in any of the State Parks for your stay, make your reservations now.

We are going to spend the first 2 nights of our trip at Point of View RV resort in Largo before Blue Key. We could not get into Pennycamp State Park and POV looks very nice too. The staff sounds very friendly from when we called to make a reservation. There are some references to this park earlier in this thread.
We've stayed at Bahia Honda a long time ago and it's very nice, but very difficult to get reservations at. We figure to explore the first 2 days up in the north keys and Bluewater is about 15 miles from key west, so we'll explore the bottom end from there.

Sunshine Key and Fiesta Key are both Encore parks and pretty nice. Knights Key has been a good option but is scheduled to close some time this year. Would be worth checking.

There is a restaurant across the street from POV that has the best Key Lime Pie I found anywhere - before and since!
