I don't think that will play well with my no sugar/no grain diet. I may be forced to cheat

I have quite a bit of experience with this park as I stay there every year. It is nothing short of amazing. It is clean, it is friendly and it is absolutely beautiful. It does not have to be expensive if you are willing to do a landlocked site that is not on the canal of the bay. I paid $576 for 8 days once and that was during Fantasy Fest. Do arrive during the early afternoon, you have to drop your toad at the entrance and someone will guide you to your spot. All the spots are owned by private individuals and they are rented when the owners are not there. Because of this, the site have some variances, some are better equipped than others but none are disappointing.
For travel I recommend pulling into the walmart in Homestead to grab a few hours sleep, there is no roadside parking or boondocking once you enter the keys. Leave out about 10am and head for bluewater, it should put you there at an ideal time.
This is a photo of my old rig on the absolute worse spot in the park. As you can see, it was rough.

I am about to book July reservations myself.

Anyone have success with a fishing guide close to the park? I found one recommended but it is 1.5 hours away and that's gonna be tough when you're supposed to arrive by 630am. Thanks.

Lot 68 seems to have some good reviews. Look at earlier posts in this thread from people who have been there

Look up or google Captain Jared Cyr. I don't recall the name of the marina he works out of, but it's on the left just as you approach Key West. I think he guides for all types of fishing. We went on the flats looking for cudas over Christmas. Click image for larger version

I just booked my July spots and it was slim pickings. The bay side fills up FAST and supposedly in the last 12 months many of the sites have sold and are not being leased/rented out as much. I got canal spots.

I'd suggest calling ASAP to get your September sites or at least find out when the earliest is you can reserve your site.

Have stayed in 68. Great spot. Also used Big Kahuna charters out of Cudjoe. Capt Chris. We caught some great Tarpon (over 100lbs) and Cuda.
