jnemo, I hope you have a great time! Depending on when the fog clears, it can be cold, so I'd take layers that you can peel off if it gets warm. We really liked Doran beach for the long beach and access to both the ocean and the bay, and will try to stay there next time. Expect for this trip we've stays at Bodega Dunes State Park in the past. It's also a great park and a little more sheltered from the weather. Take care!

I have taken the long 9-10 hour drive from So Cal to Bodega about 7 times now. We always stay at Westside. I go there for a Striper boat meet and campout at the end of August. Unfortunately I can not go this year. Wish I could it would be nice in the new mh.

Its a great time there. We get anywhere from 60-90 people and at least 20 boats. A couple of us are there for a week. Most show up for Thursday-Sunday. We fish for Salmon and rock fish every day. On Saturday we all donate fish for a big fish fry. Great times.

Jerry

Its amazing how fast things can change. Wife called me this morning and a the week needed for vacation to go to Bodega opened up for her. So it look likes we are going after all.

I'm a happy camper

Sounds like a nice trip. We went to Bedega Bay a couple of years ago but had to leave early (even losing a few days of park dues!). It was that horrible computerized tone that sounds like a random house alarm that passes as a fog horn that drove us away! My wife couldn't take it but it was getting on my nerves too. We didn't know what it was at first. We thought someone's vacation home had an alarm going off! We always thought of fog horns as low, loud horns like you hear at a hockey game when the home team scores. This computerized tone penetrated through the AC fan and ear plugs. I guess as a warning, it worked great but drove us crazy. We were in a hybrid, so there's no noise insulation so that may have had something to do with it. We moved up to the Russian River and the rest of the trip was smooth

Thanks for the great blog!

The fog horn was working most of the time on our trip but we never found it annoying. Glad you added your perspective for folks that don't like or can't sleep through that sound.
