Has anyone stayed at this RV park? We have a reservation there soon and we are interested in what the beach access is like from the RV park. We are also thinking of staying at Clear Lake after a couple of days at Bodega Bay. Any other suggestions within about a 5 hour drive North of Bodega Bay for RV parks / campgrounds? We will not have tow vehicle, just the good ol' two wheeled, leg powered transportation.

There is no direct beach access from this park. It is located on Hiwy 1 on the bluffs above the town and to the north. If you want direct beach access you'd be better off at Doran Beach Park (no hook ups) or at Westside Park (no hook ups).

While you are in the area, make the UC Marine Biology Lab a priority. They are on the west side of the harbor, just past Westside Park.

Continue north on Hiwy 1 to the town of Mendocino. You can stay at Van Damme SP or Russian Gulch SP. Remember, CA State Parks have no hook ups. If you need hook ups for a longer stay, continue north to Caspar Beach RV Park casparrv@mcn.org, (707)964-3306, or closer to Ft. Bragg, Woodside RV Park, kayfortbragg@aol.com, (800)480-CAMP or Pomo RV Park (707)964-3373.

From Ft. Bragg it is an easy trip on Hiwy 20 to Clear Lake.

We lived in the SF Bay area for over 26 years and still vacation in these areas often.

Thank you Paul for the great information on Bodega Bay. The UC Marine Biology Lab sounds great! We have made a change in the rest of our travel plans and are heading up to Lake Shasta instead of Clear Lake. We are planning on staying at the Holiday Harbor resort/marina where they have full hookups as well as boat rental. I grew up in Southern Oregon and have some great memories of tent camping in Antlers campground while boating with my Aunt and Uncle who came up from Vellejo with their boat.
