Braunig Lake RV Resort
I arrived hear on 1-3-11and paid for a week my mistake. You have no choice but to be led in by escort, who don't know there doing,by this I mean they guide you into low lying object that they fail to warn you about. When brought to manager attention he did nothin about it in fact he threw a temper tantrum and yelled at my wife.I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND.
this park is in San Antonio TX

Strange, the Texas Boomers had their december Christmas rally with 40+ rigs at this park and all were impressed. Everything from 25' trailers to 45' motorhomes and no problems at all.

Yes, that is strange. The park staff bent over backwards to meet our every need during the Texas Boomers Christmas rally in December. No complaints at all.

They led and you followed!!!
We been twice, folks were super friendly to us. Only possible complaint might be the pull through sites are pretty tight. Great location for getting in and out of the downtown area.

There are two sections to Braunig Lake RV Park. We have stayed there 4 times, with the last time with the Texas Boomers. Only once did we stay in the "standard" section. Everything there is pretty tight. Three times we stayed in the premium section, using Passport America so the price was half of what you see posted. Some of the premium sites are pull thru, wide spaces, with another pull through with cement pad for your TOAD or TV. There are a few rows in the premium section that are closer together, but still adequate for a stay when compared to other RV parks.
We have never encounter any ill mannered hosts. All have been gracious and accommodating to our needs.
It appears that you posted on the RV Park Reviews, and most justifiably so since this incident happened to you. But looking at all the other reviews, they are in contrast to what the one negative one has said.
As for not being told the site number, it is on the check-in package that is handed out. Also, every time I have made a reservation there I have asked for and I have been given a site number.
In my humble opinion, what you described is something that I am always looking for when I pull into an unfamiliar CG. Even familiar ones can change over time. If at any point of my maneuvering that I am uncomfortable I will stop, set the brake and get out and walk around. My ground guide is usually my wife. I have even stopped and let her get out and take over from a guide on other occasions.
Any time I have ever bumped the coach there is only one person to blame - me. I am the ultimate responsibility for maneuvering. (Even though I'll blame my wife in most instances - just because)

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at Braunig Lake. My experience was very good and I look forward to returning there. All the staff members I had contact with were very nice. When the bulb went out on the light fixture at my site they came right over to change it. We all get grumpy sometimes (some more than others) and maybe you just caught that person in the office at a bad time.

No problems from them when we have stayed there.

I always appreciate a park that leads me to my site. If I should hit something, shame on me.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience.

After reading this thread, I know how stingray906 feels. It is similar to my view of America's Best Campground in Branson. I had the family there one time. It was a terrible experience. Bad site, uncaring staff and management. For me, I will not return. However, the rest of the world seems to really like the CG. Bad things happen to all of us once and a while. Thankfully, we have choices.

Although others may give directions on how to park it is our responsibility to park our own rigs. The one time I let someone else direct me without letting my DW have the final say I rubbed a tree with the awning. She did not fault the person directing me she was quick to point out it was my fault.

Even with the park employee guiding me, I still keep an eye out. They don't always know how wide I have to swing to avoid a post or tree, so do not follow in their tracks. Once we get to the site, my wife gets out and I listen to her on clearances...not the campground employee.

Just don't eat the 3 eyed fish that are in the lake. It's on the shores of the ugliest power plant I've seen in years. We prefer the Texas state parks over Braunig....better views.
