Thinking of a spring break trip to Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, Mississippi. There is very little info on the website. How many sites are there? How full is it the week after Easter? I can reserve a spot for Good Friday through Easter, but all reservable spots are taken for the rest of the week. The park person said there should be pletty of spaces available, but....
I don't want to get there and have to find another campground for the rest of the week.
If anyone has photos or ideas on area attractions, they would be appreciated, too. Thanks.

Park employees seem to have a pretty good feel for availability of sites; and we've never been steered wrong.

IIRC, Buccaneer has about 200 campsites. During January and February, the Park tends to be 99% occupied by snowbirds who migrate to the very same place year-after-year. By Easter, most of them should be gone.

While we've routinely been kicked out of campgrounds due to weekend reservations, we've never experienced the reverse. Might be a good idea to determine how many non-reservable first-come sites they have available. Getting there on the weekend might provide you with a headstart advantage of registering for, and securing a mid-week campsite.

Unfortunately, there aren't a whole lot of alternate options in that area.

Buccaneer does take reservations, but only for a small part of the campground. However, they have a HUGE overflow capacity -- all with water and electricy hookups.
Infact, the overflow area is prettier than some of the areas inside the campground. You move out to open grass near the water.
I have seen campers hang on the side and wait until they open the overflow area then move in to register.

Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis has a beautiful cg. We've driven through it a couple of times and now that we have our mh that will probably be one of our regular weekend trips since it is close by. The buffet in the casino is hard to beat.

Met relatives there and spent 2 weeks camping and exlploring the region. Nice campground, good location and the campround has a water slide and wave pool and rec room for the kids. I would stay there again
