Thumbs up Caddo Lake State Park in Uncertain, Texas

This park was the site of DW's family reunion this year and we drove 'ol MoHo from CO down to Uncertain, TX to camp here...

The park was AMAZING, and most of the spaces are for small TT's or tents, with perhaps a dozen or so spaces large enough for a 30+ foot 5er or MoHo ...

In the middle of the bayou it was a blessing to find a park with FULL HOOKUPS, so we didn't so much mind the heat or the humidity..

It was quiet and serene...but keep an eye out for the ALLIGATORS! Yep you heard right, we spotted two while we were there. There was lot's to do...fishing, swamp boats touring the lake, and just enjoying the serenity.

I highly recommend this park for a true woodsy Bayou getaway but with all the conviniences of home...

We WILL be coming back.

It has been a few years since we camped there. Do they still run the small steam paddle boat tours of the lake?

The nearby town of Jefferson is a neat place to visit as well.

We have reservations there in late September to begin our next great adventure. Ken, they have a paddle wheel but I don't know about the steam part...green house effect and all???

If you get to Jefferson, make sure you go to the drug store for a soda fountain treat .

Yes! You can still ride an authentic steam paddlewheel riverboat...

I agree both Jefferson and Marshall are great day visits....

And do NOT miss the East Texas Oil Museum in Kilgore...

And if gambling is your thing you are only 1/2 or so away from the casinos in Shreveport...
