Calgary, Boondocking, Truck Stops etc.

Ok, here is where I show my coastal shortcomings.

I am looking for some place to hang my hat in the Calgary area this weekend. Of course, I had no idea that it was also the start of Calgary Stampede. Such events are somewhat foreign to my general existence.

I am looking for some suggestions of where there might be a truck stop or someplace preferably south, south west of the city where I can hang my hat for a day or so. My preliminary searches for RV parks in the area have all come up dry because everybody who knows anything about saddles and pancake breakfasts has descended on the region.

If anybody has any tips, I would be very grateful.

In my defense, it is my brother who lives in Edmonton that has necessitated me being in Calgary at this time. I think I have been set up.

I showed up in Calgary this week end too many years ago. Had never been to Canada before.
We wound up in Edmonton. That's a bit north...lol

A little ways south of Calgary in Okotoks, there's a c/g right in town called the Okotoks Lions Sheep River Campground.

Nice place, clean, well-run, rules well enforced, no hooligans or rowdy folks tolerated.

There is a Flying J at Hwy #2 ( Deerfoot trail) and Barlow Trail. Across the street is a casino which allows RV`s (dry camp). Register at customer services. This is in the SE of Calgary. Calgary very RV park limited...IMO.
