Mountain View RV Park in Susanville is an excellent campground and perfect for exploring Mount Lassen. We've stayed there recently and our review can be found at http://www.rvcampreviews.com/states/CA/Susanville.php if you're interested.

Hi Geri and Jim, there are a bunch of campgrounds in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. My favorite is Lodgepole but you would probably need reservations to secure a spot there. There are some beautiful campgrounds in Kings Canyon like Sentinel, Sheep Creek, and Moraine and the last I heard none of them required reservations. They're all large campgrounds and when I was there in Aug. 05 it wasn't crowded but the two lane road going in demands your attention. You can contact Kings Canyon NP and find out more. I also stayed at the KOA in Visalia and that was a clean little place for an overnight. Good Luck, Kel.
