We will be leaving the cold and snowy Northwest on or about the 7th of January and head to Mesa for the rest of the winter. I'm wondering about RV parks along I5 through California and also along I10 into Arizona. I usually travel through Reno and Las Vegas but won't try driving it in the winter.

NOrton - How far are you planning to travel each day..and will you stay more than one day at the park?
I have heard from a few people that the Premier RV Resort in Redding is off the beaten path by a teeny bit- so the freeway noise is non-existent...
..from there ..I think I would recommend going down to Bakersfield and staying at the Orange Grove RV Park. We prefer to avoid LA traffic by cutting across 58 and then south at Barstow I think..It will get us to I-10 while avoiding the traffic.
I think you can then head down from there. (I would help to know how many hours in a day you prefer to travel... )

A few people here have commented on a park in Bodega Bay, where Hitchcock's Birds inconvenienced the locals a little while back,
but i have never stayed there.
Beautiful country a couple hours north of SanFran.
I read that they lend out a copy of the video to anyone staying there for no additional charge.

I don't plan on driving more than 5 to 6 hours per day. I'm in no hurry. Our reservations in Mesa are paid until the 15th of April so, when I get there, I get there. We will be leaving from Troutdale, Or and our first stop will be in Canyonville, Or (the casino you know) and then I figure the next day to be somewhere around Redding, weather permitting. After that, who knows

Since it sounds like you like the casino stays try Rolling Hills Casino in Corning Ca. Not that far South of Redding. You have your choice of boondocking in the parking lot with the trucks or you can stay at their RV Park. Nice casino and I recommend the breakfast buffet. If you stop make sure you get a players card before going to the buffet if you happen to be a senior. Gotta get that discount.

LD... WOW -what a "find" if you are looking for a nice park in Northern California...This looks like a great place for any rallies or as a romantic weekend..with a spa on the premises
I think we may have to check it out!

Red Bluff RV park
I absolutely agree with the previous LD posting regarding a stay in Red Bluff, CA. This is a new park with terrific amenities. It is very clean and managed most efficiently. This park is conveniently located and the staff is top notch.
