We stayed in the Shamrock RV park in Reno back in 2003. Very clean and nicely paved sites but park is not kid-friendly.

No jumping in the pool. No riding bicycles too fast.

So as long as you don't bring grandson #1 and #2 there while you wait for #3, it is a great place to stay.

We have stayed her Terrible's Gold Ranch Casino & RV Resort., 9 miles from Reno but a very nice park.

We have also stayed here Grand Sierra Resort - RV Park and it is a nice park also.

I live in Reno. I would also recommend the Grand Sierra Resort RV Park. They have nice-sized, clean spots, and the G/Sierra is certainly one of the nicest hotel/casinos in Reno. The hotel is huge and has some excellent restaurants and activities within. It is also right off of Rt. 395, the area's major North-South artery. Not sure how big a rig you are driving, but the location allows easy ingress and egress for the largest rigs. (Don't worry, the RV park is on the other side of the hotel, so freeway noise is not a problem.) In fact, the G/Sierra hosts major RV shows in the front parking area several times a year.

If you have not been here before, I suggest you consider a day trip to Lake Tahoe, about an hour away. If you have a smaller rig, there are a number of very nice campgrounds up there....but call ahead. If you have a 40' or so rig, might be better to take the toad for the day trip and stay overnight in one of the area's many hotels. Only 2 cg's I know of up there that can handle 40' rigs....one is in Zephyr Cove and is VERY expensive, and the other I would not consider.

There is also some GREAT camping West in the Sierras. We really like Little Bear RV Park in Blairsden/Grayeagle, CA, only about an hour or so out of Reno. It is AWESOME....and reasonable. Hope this helps....have a great trip. And congratulations!

My son works at the Grand Sierra, didn't want to stay at casino. Are you a engine builder?

There's a nice one at the Sparks Marina, very close to I 80, but no hwy noise. We used to live in the Reno area and the Grand Sierra is too high, in my opinion. We've since stayed at Bordertown and Boomtown KOA.
