Camp Gulf Florida

Has anyone camped there? How do you like it? Wondering if sand was a big issue ( of course I know it is on the beach) but I am wondering about the mechanical issues of a motorhome. Any info would be nice. Thanks

We stayed recently at Navarre Beach at St. Rosa Resort. It was very nice. Not as many tourists as Destin.

Best place ever!

We loved every minute of being on the beach. There is nothing like stepping out of your door onto the beach. I have been told that it is now an annual trip. Really nice resort, a little pricey, but worth it.
The beach front sites are actually built over stone with sand on top so you don't have to worry about sinking in.

PS. It will take you some time to get all the sand out of the coach. We used a bucket of water by the door to help keep it to a minimum.

Well, every time you get in your coach and see more sand, it will be a memory! It's all in how you look at it! :-)

Try Ft Pickens on Pensacola Beach. With a geezer pass it is only 10 bucks. You are not really on the beach but a short walk to it. On the other side is Pensacola Bay which has a fishing pier that you don't need a license. You can do some exploring at the old fort built during the Civil War. Load up on supplies in Pensacola or Gulf Breeze as there is not many stores on the beach but a lot of good resturants. You need to get the gate code from the ranger if you are goig to be out after the park closes.

Stayed in Camp Gulf, ocean front, for a month in March. Wonderful! Sand? What sand? That's why you go to the beach, right? Stayed there last winter also. Never had any long term effects of the sand. A 65mph trip on US 10 blows it all out! Have fun.

And, I forgot. An alternate site - Gulf Shores State Park in Alabama. About an hour from Camp Gulf. One of the nicest campgrounds we ever stayed in. Huge sites, privacy. Miles of hiking and biking trails. Bike to the beach, 5 minutes. And, way cheaper than Camp Gulf. $32 versus $140!!!!

We plan on checking out Camp Gulf while staying at Gulf Shores State Park for 10 nights and then 7 nights at Ft. Pickens State Park. at the end of the month.

Sounds great! You will love Gulf Shores SP. Close to the beach, good restaurants, lots of things to do. Space between the rigs is very good as well. No cable, but can pick up lots of over the air TV stations. Have fun!

Gulf coast camping

Try Topsail State Park or Henderson Beach State Park, two of the best Florida state parks. We live near there and camp at Topsail every chance we get. If it is filled check back again the next day on the web site and there is usually a cancellation.

My vote goes to Top Sail or Henderson Beach State Park 2 of the best, Camping on the Gulf is very tight and very expensive.
