I'm trying to determine the best route for us from Pensacola to Dallas. The best options appear to be
1) Pensacola through Hattiesburg to Jackson and I-20 to Dallas or
2) Pensacola to Baton Rouge on I-10/I-12, I-10 to Lafayette, I-49 to Shreveport and I-20 to Dallas.
We try to travel no more than 200 - 250 miles a day. I'm looking at the campgrounds listed below for the first route. Or the same places except substituting Lakeside RV Park in Livingston for the first night if we go route 2. I've stayed at Lakeside many times and am well satisfied with it. For route 2 some place between Lafayette and Shreveport would break the mileage better but looking in Woodall's and RV Park ReviewsI I really don't see any campgrounds in that area that strike me as well as the one in Shreveport.
Has anyone stayed at or know the pros and cons about:
1) Wendy Oaks RV Resort, Florence, MS
2) Tall Pines RV Park, Shreveport, LA
3) Plantation Place RV Park, Sunnyvale, TX
Any other nice RV park around Dallas conducive to coming in on I-20 from Shreveport and leaving heading south on I-35 to Houston.
Any nice RV park in Jackson in line with coming from Hattiesburg and going to Shreveport. I've stayed at Swinging Bridge in Byram south of Jackson and am not real thrilled with it. Just about lost the coach in the potholes getting in to it the one time I did stay there.
Any nice RV park between Lafayette and Shreveport on I-49, Natchitoches or further north.

I hated miss meeting you in Gulf Shores. Was glad that you were able to get up with Del & Charolette while you were there.
You're right, I 30 is too far north. Longview might be doable, but I try to break the mileage as evenly as possible.
Keep moving around, we'll bump into each other.

Pensacola to Baton Rouge on I-10/US 190 to Opelousas/ I-49 to Shreveport and I-20 to Dallas
If you can, stop at Lea's Pies in Lecompte to eat. It's on US-71 that parallels I-49. 71 is smoother than I-49 anyway.
Interstate from Baton Rouge to Lafayette - rough
Around Dallas - At Terrell get on US 80 to the I-635 loop and then go south. I-20 between Terrell and I-635 is very rough
