We've tried several campgrounds around here near I-40 with lousy results. Can anyone recommend a decent CG for overnighting in the area?

Albuquerque North KOA, They are not the typical KOA. They are very nice.

On I-40, we prefer American RV Park, just west of town. Easy on, easy off, good place to base from as well.

Hardrock Casino has a campground just a few miles south of I-40 on I-25.

I've never stayed there because we live six miles away.

The Isleta Lakes campground, just west of the Hard Rock Casino gets my vote. Nice setting, large pull throughs, diesel readily available, with trucker diesel pumps at the Phillips station on the East side of the highway. Really good access to I-25 for exploring the area. It's about 10 miles south of the intersection of I-25 and I-40.

Albuquerque east KOA is one of the noisiest campgrounds we've ever stayed at. The only thing that separates you from the noise on I-40 is a wall. Albuquerque north KOA is OK. Easy access (although there is a lot construction currently going on at the Bernalillo exits) to I-25. Both KOA's are old and breathing room between sites is pretty sparse.

American campground on the west side of Albuquerque is our second choice. They provide a continental breakfast every morning, and have good sized pull throughs. However, they get a fair amount of noise from nearby I-40.

X2 on Isleta Lakes. Stayed there in '08. Very nice, close to the casino. However, strange layout on the sites, as the picnic bench, shelter and bbq, is on the driver's side.

Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post is good for an overnight stay, and is also part of Passport America @ $15/night, two nights max. I overnighted there twice and was happy with my stay.
