Campground at Silverwood Theme Park Idaho review

On our trip to Yellowstone we are staying 2 nights at the campground adjacent to Silverwood Theme Park in Northern Idaho. First, the theme park has some great rides, a water park, train, wooden and steel roller coasters and such. Last time I was here was 20 years ago and it has grown in both attractions and attendees.

If you are thinking of staying here, be aware that highway 95 is being widened to 4 lanes and they actually have diverted it around the back side of the RV park. What was a "gotcha" for me is that I had reserved a site in January far away from the highway but with the diversion it actually is much closer and traffic noise is fairly constant. The campground was 100% full.

Sites and access roads are all gravel, with full hookups and patches of grass. Would be muddy if wet. Pretty level in most cases, but not all. Bathrooms are nice. Most have partial shade. Be aware though that it is a busy park. Some sites seemed a bit tight for slides. Lots of families, including tents and they don't seem to enforce the tent limitation. In our case we paid $39 per night and a discount on theme park tickets only offered to campers. Wifi wireless is for the office only (not campers). Cell coverage is good.

I noticed a lot of RVs in the paved parking lot, even with slides extended. It makes me wonder if some are dry camping; I will confirm tomorrow. Paved parking is $4 per day.

If you aren't planning on going to the park or have your toad/towed with you, I suggest staying at one of the many nicer campgrounds in the neighboring areas or just using the parking lot for the day. If you are going to the theme park, access is easy from the campground and it is nice to go back for lunch, etc and save some $$ verses eating from the park vendors.

Enjoy.

To answer: there were 8 rigs dry camping in the parking lot, including slides out, so I suppose that is allowed.
