Campground close to Elizabeth City NC??

The nearest place I've found online to Elizabeth City NC is a place called Rocky Hock Campground near Edenton. Anyone know of anything in or closer to Elizabeth City NC??

I just found a place called North River Campground located in Shanboro, about 14 east of Elizabeth City. Anyone know anything about this place???

I live about 75 miles south of that area, but do not know anything about the campgrounds there. There is a couple "Bill & Nancy" who are iRV2 members that live just east of Elizabeth City in Camden. You might be able to PM them and ask them.

I live in Camden County about 5 miles from the Shawboro campground listed above. It is much better than Rocky Hock and much closer to Elizabeth City. The owners have spent and lot of money and time upgrading the campground. You will not be disappointed. Call North River Campground, (252) 336-4414. Our local Good Sams chapter has made it our home park.

Lovely wife and I just returned from a week long stay at North River. It is close to Elizabeth City and is nicer than others that we checked out during our stay but I doubt we will be returning.

When we were escorted to our site, we realized it was under an inch of standing water and very muddy. Lovely wife volunteered to take our two dogs for a walk and ask that we be moved. At that time the campground was only about a third full, if that. We picked out four different sites that were dry and she asked at the front office that we be moved after explaining that the mud and the dogs were a messy combination. The owner of the campground refused to move us, told us that the other spots were reserved and then lectured my wife that all the sites were muddy due to the recent rain.

We arrived on a Wednesday and since we had appointments in Elizabeth City we stayed. Of the four sites we requested, two of them were never used during the next six days. Two of them had units in for the weekend. I know because I watched. I suppose times must be real good there and catering to your customers is not required?
