Campground in/around Savannah Georgia

We are at Skidaway Island State Park as I write this. It is a terrific park. A very large amount of space between campsites. We booked early and got a spare rate with FHU. There are trails for hiking and bicycles. We would come back to this park without any second thoughts. Our style is to relax and enjoy nature, but enjoy some of the local culture.

We drove over to Fort Pulaski. If you are Into old forts, I would recommend it. While there, we went to Tybee Island. This area has plenty of beach and things to do. Once again...not our style...but would appeal to some.

Old Town Savannah is very interesting. We went to Forsythe Park, and another that I can't remember the name.

X2 on Red Gate Farms. Have stayed there two times. About 15 minutes to historic district. Recommend on/off trolleys to see old historic Savanna. We chose Old Savanna tours, drivers were excellent and knew the history. I think if you purchase your ticket after 3pm it includes the next day. I recommend ridding the complete route the first afternoon, come back the next day and get off in areas you find interesting. The trollies pass often. There are many good restaurants along the river.
