Campground in Galveston

There was a private campground in Galveston that was wiped out by the hurricane. Can't remember the name of it, but the last time we were there (Sept. 10) it looked like they were re-building it. The campground was located on the beach just after the seawall ended if you are headed towards the state park from town. I know it's a little vague, just trying to find out if anyone knows if it's opened yet.

I went past Dellanera RV Park several months ago on my way to Galveston Island SP it was not open. The last thing I read in local news was that it was still in the process of rebuilding. The park is city owned. You might try searching for a phone number and calling.

Galveston Island SP is open with about half as many sites as before but is making a limited come back.

As of last month it was still under construction. A call could verify this.

As stated, the State Park is open. There are two sides to the State Park. One is on the ocean side with the dunes separating the park, and the other is across the highway from the park entrance. It is still the state park. Quiet with access to the bay waters.

There is a brand new CG that just opened this spring. It is actually loacated in Hitchcock, TX, but it's closest proximity is Bayou Vista. It is just before you get to the Causeway going into galveston. The owner's name is Curt (or Kurt) and he was most amiable when we stopped and talked to him. It is called (believe it or not) Louis' Bait Camp, and now Louis' Bait Camp and RV Park. It is close to the junction of Hwy 146, I-45, and Hwy-6. It is physically on the Northbound lane of Highway-6 immediately after crossing the small bridge out of Bayou Vista.

There is also another CG just after the Causeway on the right hand side. Name eludes me right now. Heavy street traffic, but on the water with fishing piers.

Jamaica Beach RV resort is past the state park.

There are many other CG's within 20 miles of Galveston, with some having water access of some kind.
