Campground near Augusta, GA

We will be helping our niece move from UGA in Athens to The Medical College of Ga in Augusta, GA in a few weeks. We will have two midsize Class A's and I am looking for a nice campground near the city. Any recommendations?

Check out Lake Thurmond (Clarks Hill) just north of town. There are some nice State parks up that way. Have fun!

Also Corps of Engineers camp grounds as well. We always go to Petersburg Campground on the lake. It is about a 40 minute drive to MCG from the campground. If you are looking for something closer try Heritage RV Park on Wrightsboro Road. It is much closer to MCG since it is in town (about 10 miles from MCG), small in size but convenient. Their number is (706) 863-3333.

Columbia County has a nice park on the lake just north of town. Wildwood Park voted nicest campground in area.
