Campground near or in New York City

Hello , Any idea? I have a 45 ft motorhome towing a car. This is for next fall on my way to Florida.
Thanks.

I've stayed at Harriman State Park last time we were headed up to Maine. Wife/daughter wanted to shop at the Harriman Outlets. It may be too tight for you at 45' though, some pretty tight corners with steep hills. We're 35 with a toad. It's off of 287 and 87 by the NY/NJ border.

2nd on Liberty Harbor

Located in NJ just across the river from Manhattan. More like a big parking lot but as close as you can get. Good luck

We also stayed at Croton on a Hudson at the Croton Point Park Campground and loved it. We were one mile from the train station, then an hour on the train into Manhattan.

You should see was a 1 bedroom apartment goes for by the month. One of the priciest real estate markets in the country. I lived in Manhattan as a kid in the 60s. Can't even afford to visit now.

try black bear

There is also a CG in Florida NY (about 60 miles north) called Black Bear. They bill themselves as the closest CG to NYC, and even run daily shuttles to the city. Although we haven't stayed there yet - we are booked in June as a stopover on our way to Maine. It looks pretty nice and has great reviews.

Liberty is the closest to NYC even though it is just a parking lot. The nightly rate? Well location, location, location. When your the only game in town you can charge what you want.
However it is convenient for trips into Manhattan.

staying overnight at LibertyHarbor is about the experience, not the amenities, though the price, at first glance, might look like a resort price. but, most will tell you that it really is since you have the river view, the 'mountain' view(mountain, as in Buildings)... and easy access to the 'city'.

we've also stayed at CrotonPointPark, on the upper Hudson, and found it very relaxing in the 'woods' right on the river...

so, it's either stay right in the 'hustle and bustle', or stay in the 'woods' and ride into the city...

Sure but a hotel is $400. It's NYC.

This is in Jersey City across the Hudson River. It is a no trills parking lot but very easy access to NYC. http://www.libertyharborrv.com/
