Campground near St Louis
I will be going out west with my two daughters ages 15 & 12 and without a toad and am looking for a campground close to the arch for a night or two to take in that attraction. Any recommendations? I have a 30' Class A Thanks!

370 Lakeside RV Campground located in Saint Peters mo. This is in St Charles county, which is nice area and very safe. Drive to down town from park is 30 minutes. Great rv park owned by city and is around 300 acres in size. Fair rates and very friendly people. 24/7 park security on site so no BS going on.

Check out 1) St Louis RV Park and 2) Casino Queen RV Park ... check ratings on typical RV rating sites and don't be bashful about asking about distances from sights you want to see and security of the surroundings ...
Safe travels - and take the girls up to the top of the arch in the tram - and a walkthrough the underground museum may be interesting ...

Caution re Casino Queen: I have stayed there twice. It is an extremely nice campground but is in a very bad neighborhood. It is fenced and walled in for security but once you go beyond the fence you have to negotiate a very seedy area.

Not a campground, but an rv friendly attraction with easy in and out..... Cahokia Mounds is a must see if you have any interest in history.

The Queen's campground has the security, and it is a walk across the CG parking lot to the Metrolink station stop. This train will take you to the next stop across the river to the arch stop. The arch grounds are under a major remodeling. Tram ride to the top will open Mar 2016.

This website should help your plans. As you are at the Arch, also see the old Cathedral and old Court House within walking distance. Ballpark village is not to far away. This is all do-able without driving.
Then if you venture out, go to the Basilica, and view the mosaic art. AB brewery tour, yes, the kids can go.

I worked at the Arch as a teenager and am a lifelong resident. The advice is all very good especially the St. Charles county thing for the rv park.

Did some research on St. Louis for this summer and settled on St. Louis RV Park. A bit pricey but if proximity to downtown is important, it's your best choice. There's not much to choose from close in.
Considered the Casino Queen but was concerned about the neighborhood mentioned in many posts & reviews

This confuses me a bit, I am headed to St Louis first of april and considered the Casino queen for the convenience of downtown. I don't see any real housing area that close to it on google maps, looks like it is business or industrial and all west of a major highway transition. I haven't stayed there and read many post that say it is very secure and the metro link is very close and the casino security will take you there most the time. It doesn't open till April 10th so it isn't a player for me this trip. Also the other one is very much in the heart of downtown with all housing around it and a high/middle school right next to it. I couldn't stay there either because it literally closes the gate at 9Pm and will not allow any later arrival. I booked Cahokia Rv park, it is a little south of the casino queen and looks like a standard RV set up. it has a BBQ place on the property...

here's a neat little tool to check on crime stats by address for St. Louis.
