We will be taking I-10 to the 2010 National Rally and need to find a campsite close to the NM/AZ border. I found a KOA in Lordsburg, NM. Has anyone stayed there? Since we will just be sleeping there one night, is there a less expensive (their rate is $32) campground in the area that anyone knows about? Thanks!

Try Deming. There's 3 or 4 RV parks right off the I-10 exits, plus Wal- Mart. In fact, that's how we came to live here!

Thanks, I remember Deming well! I was driving back from a Convention in Tucson and falling asleep. I made it to Deming before I finally gave up and found a motel so I could get some sleep (did not take the RV that trip).

There is a nice Flying J in Lordsburg at exit 24, I believe, if you don't mind dry camping at a truck stop if just spending the night.

I have never done the Flying J/WalMart parking lot stops but would consider it. I would have to run the generator all night - is that allowed?
My traveling companions do not want to stay in a parking lot so I'm still looking for a campground in Lordsburg if possible. If not, I will stay in Deming at the Escapees campground.

We stayed at Meteor Crater last year. Nice park, great over nighter. We did two nights because we had to "stand on the corner in Winslow, Arizona". Other then that and the crater there is not much there. Oh, the park had the most beautiful bathrooms/showers I have ever seen. They were like private suites.
