CT Rest Areas

There was discussion on news last night that CT is considering closing all rest areas. I would not count on that option.

The Politicians in Conn are absolute assholes....they say crap that just is opposite of sane......they'll be open or there will be trucks all over the shoulders of the hwy...bad enough they raise the fuel tax so high, they drive thru for fuel and only stop to rest...C

Moose Meadow in Willington Ct is only about 4 miles off 84 and is nice.
Brialee in Ashford Ct is about 8 miles off 84 and is VERY nice.

Yeah, I oughta know - I grew up in Connecticut, and left at the first opportunity. Now that my mother had passed on I have no reason to ever return, either.

So not only do you eliminate a place for truckers to park, but you actually promote drowsy driving. Brilliant! Despite some of the highest tax rates in the nation, they somehow don't have the money to maintain a rest area. Go figure.

Central CT is not a particularly friendly place for RVs larger than Small - Moderate. We found a nice place about 8 miles north of Waterbury in Thomaston, CT. Check out the Branchbrook Campground. We've stayed there a few times.
