My Bounder has a 30Amp system. I seldom go to a campground as we boondock mostly. If I go to a campground and they only have 50 amp then I think I need a 50A to 30A "reducer" in order to hookup....?? Thanks.

Or do most have both 30a and 50a?

Most all campgrounds have both 30A and 50A. In fact, it's a bit more common to find in older campgrounds they don't have 50A connections. You can use the 50A connection on a 30A rig with a dogbone as you stated.

I've been to more than a few campgrounds that have only 50A outlets in the 50A sites, so to be safe, it would be a good idea to carry a 50A male to 30A female dogbone adapter to give you the capability to use such a 50A site when necessary. Having only a 50A outlet is rare, but it's NOT unheard of in my experience.

This would also let you use the 50A plug where both are present should the 30A plug in the power pedestal be damaged (burned contacts, etc.)

Most campground pedestals have both, along with a standard household, 15/20 amp outlet. It would be a good bet to get a 50 to 30 amp "pigtail", just in case.

Never had a problem finding 30 amp service. We normally choose electric/water spaces only and use the CG's main dump when we leave. It's normally cheaper, and the few times we had to take a 50A space they were pricey.

Generally if a CG has a 50A, they'll also have 30A. But always good to have a 50-30 dogbone in your toolbag.

Go to Walmart and get two power adapters.....50 to 30 amp and 30 to 15 amp.

The 30 to 15 will allow you to plug in on a normal house outlet.

I believe in a full set of adapters as well.. MOST campgrounds that have 50 amp boxes there are 3 outlets in the box

50 amp (4 prong 120/240 volt)
30 amp (3 prong 120 only)
Duplex house type GFCI (20 amp normally though the GFCI's are usually only rated for 15)

However it often happens the 30 amp outlet is not in the best of condition, so using a dogbone adapter off the 50 amp outlet works better.

I booked Fairmont Hotsprings and told them I had 30a MH. The post only had 50a. I was surprised as this is a 5star resort. They finally relented "renting" me an adapter and loaned it for our stay. Next trip to Wallmart I bought my own.
