Campground Recommendations for....
Vegas
Capital Reef
Sequoia
Redwoods
We are a family of 5 (wife, me and 3 daughters ages 7-14)
Like the convenience of hookups but not necessary if it gets us closer to the hiking, etc. (30 amp would be necessary for Vegas and Capital Reef). We are looking at summer 2020 so would be July.

I have used that site a ton and I agree, it is invaluable. For whatever reason the reviews seem like they are somewhat indifferent in these areas.

We are firm believers of staying in the national parks themselves for the best overall experience, especially if you have children and attend some of the many ranger programs and night campfire program. Capitol Reef has a beautiful campground.

We stayed at this one in Torrey last year. Not fancy, was about $35/nt with Good Sam. New, friendly young owners that were remodeling and about 5 miles to Capitol Reef as I recall.

Two sites we've used in Las Vegas:
NPS Lake Mead. No hookups, very nice. There are several NPS campgrounds on lake Mead, There is a commercial RV park next door with full hookups. We have Senior pass so the NPS sites are only $12 a night ($24 normally) Lot of coyotes at night. They just did a renovation on the NPS park. we always luck out and get a site right next to the lake. Lake level is (was) way down in Feb 2019.
Clarke County shooting range: Nice view of Las Vegas, hookups. I think the price was about $25 a night. very quite at night. and of course, its a very popular gun range, The area with the RV parking is on the skeet range, The rifle and pistol ranges are farther up on the mountain.

We stayed at Thousand Lakes when we visited Capitol Reef NP. It's an OK park, sites are level and roomy. Interior roads are gravel. They have a pool and pretty large store/gift shop.

Unless your sold on the glitz of Vegas, I would go to Valley of Fire, 50 miles east of there on #15. There are campgrounds, but they fill up fast.
As an alternative, we dry camped at a large gravel ( mostly empty) truck park area at Crystal, at the corner of #15 and Valley of Fire Hiway.
It’s an amazing park, even saw a desert tortoise!
