Campground Report - Yegua Creek, Somerville, TX

When I arrived at Yegua Creek Campground in the early afternoon yesterday, an early December day with temps near 75º the campground was virtually deserted. There was but one other campsite occupied. Later on a “mad rush” of maybe three other campers rolled in bringing the total number of occupied sites to about 5.

The first thing I noticed when rolling in was a small group of deer in a large open field to my left. As I drove around the three campground loops looking for a spot to settle into with my little RV family the next thing I noticed was more deer. While walking the campground later to stretch my legs and get a better feel for the place I’m sure I saw something in the neighborhood of 40 of them. I think you get the picture.

The full report is on my free blog, RussOnTheRoad. You'll also find interview wit people I've met on my journey, great photos and photo tips, product reports and more. If you like it sign up to receive email notices when I make new posts. Look for the Follow Russ text entry field.

Please submit your report to rvparkreviews.com and the irv2.com campground reviews to help others who may be searching for such a nice RV park.

Thanks for your suggestions. I've submitted a report to RVParkreviews but isn't this forum the IRV2 campground review forum? Did I miss something?

Yes, look on the header, to the right of the Classified and the next header is Campgrounds. Then you can post under the state of Texas as well. Simple copy and paste maybe what you already posted over on that section.

Thanks for posting your report in this section under "locations", as well.

Thanks again. I've never really noticed that header item. It's odd that it isn't included with all the other forums in the same place.

I checked with IRV2 administration. Duplicate posts between forums are frowned upon and they think my campground reports are more appropriate in this forum as opposed to Campgrounds.

Yegua is a great COE park on Somerville Lake. Also two state parks, Nails Creek and Birch Creek. The two state parks are connected by a hiking/equestrian trail. Spent many nights at Lake Somerville back when my son was younger, back in the 80's.
