Looking for a Campground to stay at this Dec while we go skiing somewhere. Would like to stay in NC area.
Any suggestions? Looks like everything closes down.

The nearest campground to the Banner Elk area resorts is Grandfather Campground. We have stayed there several times when skiing at Sugar Mountain. They are open year-round:

Grandfather RV Resort - Camping

We like it, it is relatively convenient, clean and prices are reasonable (though we have not been there over the Holidays where they seem to charge $5 /day extra). We usually stay for a week, they have a discount for weekly stays.

They also have WiFi for free, though we sometimes had trouble with consistent signal.

There are several good restaurants in Banner Elk, also in Boone and Blowing Rock. We enjoy going to Stonewalls in Banner Elk (Stonewalls - Banner Elk's Premiere Steak House Restaurant) and The Woodlands in Blowing Rock (The Woodlands Barbecue Restaurant Blowing Rock NC). We have also enjoyed Makoto's in Boone (Boone Restaurants » Blog Archive » Makoto’s).

There are lots of other restaurants in the area, if you find another good one please post it!

Thanks,
Stewart
