Campground sugestions for the Boston area

Going to the Boston area and looking for a nice pet friendly campground that is fairly private to spend a couple of days. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My very strong suggestion would be Boston Minuteman in Littleton. Owners are wonderful and office staff is extremely helpful with suggestions on visiting the area. There is a commuter rail stop not far from the park, should you be visiting the city.Quality Family Camping in the Boston Area | Easy access, good-sized sites, clean facilities, friendly atmosphere. Open until October 20th. See you soon!

Good to hear the positive reviews. We made reservations there for August for my Nephews wedding in Princeton, MA.

We once looked at staying at Wompatuck State Park, just south of Boston.

Wompatuck has 20amp electric sites, with no water no water at sites. Water is available, as is a dump station. RVParkReviews folks don't seem keen on it, for what that is worth.Hingham (Massachusetts ) - Campground Reviews - RV Park Reviews

We have never been there, it was on a radar for a Boston trip.

If you like a big park try Normandy Farms in Foxbobo, LARGE, but nice. Lots of things for the kids to do and always gets great reviews.

Coming south from Bar Harbor last summer, we stopped at Salisbury/Salisbury Beach and camped at Pines CG just north of Boston off of US 1. While there, we drove into Newburyport and caught the commuter train into Boston. I've always wanted to board the USS Constitution, but didn't want to drive into the city...it was a fairly scenic ride into Boston and I got my 'Ironsides' fix. It was very hot so after the USSC visit, we were pooped and headed back to the train.

The next day we did a day trip to Gloucester to kill a couple more lobster...very rich in maritime history and ridiculously gorgeous homes - very nice drive as well.

BTW, the Pines CG was quite, treed and had some of that privacy you mentioned...it's OK but nothing really to brag about. We also stayed at Beach Rose RV...they kicked us out after a couple days due to prior site reservations - it's a nice CG w/FHUs 50Amp service. As far as we could tell, there's not too many choices close in to the city.??
