Campground suggestion on the Oregon Coast
Hello my fellow travelers,
We are heading up to Canada for the Stampede this summer and working our way home through Oregon. I have looked a few state parks on the coast. Fort Stevens park looks nice, but possibly crowded. We are looking for a state or federal park on the beach, more campground than RV Park. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

The Oregon State Parks can't be beat, but as you already know they can be crowded during the summer months, especially the ones to the north. The closer they are to populated cities like Portland, Salem, Eugene etc. they busier they will be. There are also many good RV parks along the coast. Here is a link to the Oregon State Parks website. Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department: Find a Park.
Enjoy!

Fort Stevens is pleasnt and spacious, but it's a long walk to the beach! If you have a toad, it's not a big deal. Beverly Beach is another good one as is Cape Blanco.

It is hard to determine the distance on the map.

Near the lower part of HWY 101 in Oregon just north of Brookings is Harris Beach State Park. We've stayed there several times and enjoyed that location and the walk down to the beach.

Sunset Bay State Park just south of Coos Bay has a few spaces large enough to accomodate our 43ft coach and is within walking distance of the ocean.

Sunset Bay is a nice park in a great location, but just be aware there is no wifi, cell phone service or satellite TV reception in most sites.
Bullards Beach State Park in Bandon Oregon is very nice and has plenty of long FHU sites. Loops A and B are heavily wooded with secluded sites, loop C is more open with a "group camping" feel to it.
