Traveling to Myrtle Beach and Florida keys. Need suggestions for good campgrounds. Pet friendly? Also best prices- maybe?

The only park we have stayed at in Myrtle Beach is the state park. Very nice IMHO. Wooded sites, some have sewer about $30.

In the keys we stay at Knights Key RV in Marathon MM 47.5. Prices are all over the place according to what site. From mid $40s to $70 off season but they have a buy 2 nights get one free now. Lots of photos here Gallery | Knights Key

Jekyll Island State Park, GA pet friendly and within walking distance of the beach.

Haven't been there but another popular one that is pet friendly is Beverly Beach.
Welcome to Beverly Beach Camptown RV Resort in Beverly Beach, FL

There are a number of private parks that seem very popular in the Myrtle Beach area. They certainly don't lack for amenities. To us, however, they had all the aesthetic appeal of a WalMart parking lot.

The one time we stayed in the Myrtle beach area it was in our 34' motor home and it was at Myrtle Beach state park. It has much more of a 'park' feel to it, and it's a short walk to the beach. We'd go again. We visited Huntington Beach state park while in the area and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there either. In fact, Huntington would probably be more comfortable access for the larger motor home we now have and the camp sites are even closer to the beach. It is, however, a bit farther from town.

Boomer Express,

When are you going to be in the Keys? Everything is relatively less expensive in the summer heat but very expensive during the winter and spring. State parks that are cheap fill up a year in advance.

We stay at the Sugarloaf Key KOA which is very pet friendly. Nice fenced dog park and our dog swims at the boat launch. Also great abandoned road to take your dog on long 2 mile walks.

We checked out Huntington Beach State Park and to do it over again might have stayed there. In Murrells Inlet it is about 12 miles form MB. Same deal. State park, some have sewer connections but reserve well in advance for them. Great beach but more secluded than MB SP.

Willow Tree RV Resort - great place, friendly people and large sites situated around a lake. Located just north of North Myrtle Beach.

That's why I like it...

Close to great seafood, Brookgreen Gardens, great golf courses (The Heritage is my favorite) and close enough to what used to be a great beach town (MB) that you can go and shop as much as you like.

Wonderful state park, just not near Myrtle Beach. Huntington Beach State Park is however.

If he is traveling between Myrtle Beach and the Keys he might be interested in a stop over.
