Can everyone who has been camping in No. California (even more specifically - within 2 hours of Sacramento) tell me what theire favorite campground is and IF it will be able to accomodate a 40' MH.
I am realizing that the campgrounds may not have updated their camp sites to accomodate the larger rigs and I really want to make sure I get a chance to go out in our Monaco as often as I have a couple of days off together..and the closer to home - the better!

At lake Tahoe, Zephyr Cove and Camp Richardson are two of my favorites as well as Fallen Leaf (dry camp only). too cold there for me right now but summers are beautiful.
At about the limit of two hours out from Sacto I have always liked Half Moon Bay and to the N of San Francisco Bodega Bay

A commercial RV park you might like if you enjoy golf, is Campers Inn RV & Golf Resort on I-5 just north of Dunnigan, which is just north of the junction of I-5 & 505.

The Trailer Life Directory rates it pretty high and the rate last year was $29.50. Check 'em out at info@campersinnrv.com, (800) 794-6533.

Bodega Bay Rv with full hook ups or the Bodega Dunes State campground right next to it with just a dump station. Both are just a few blocks north of Bodega Bay.

I haven't tried them myself yet, but I've read great reviews about the new Flag City RV park near Lodi. Their website is http://www.flagcityrvresort.com/.

Has anyone stayed at Sycamore Ranch RV Park in Brown's Valley (east of Marysville on SR 20)?

Any other suggestions for the Marysville area?

Positive:I stayed there a few months ago. It is nice park for over nighting. There is a Flying J across the street.

Negative: It is next to the freeway and has nothing nearby except gas stations and fast food resturants.

If you intend to visit the Sacramento / San Joaquin Valley areas, or nearby foothills, (winery touring etc) then it would make a great staging area (camping) while touring.

Gary, you could not get me to stay at the flags place. It is just off of the junction of Hwy 12 and I-5. When I say just off, I mean I could hit the freeway with a rock if I was young enough to have shoulders that worked.

I do like to sleep at night.

Also, looking at their site, the spaces are not wide enough. You step out the door into the planter.
Ed: Thanks for those links. Been to mcclure and 49er. Have not looked at frenchcamp though.

Ed,
The last time I was at McClure, I don't remember it as being friendly to larger RV's.
When was the last time you were in there and which campground did you think was the nicest?
Believe it or not, I actually knew the Barrett family when I was a kid. We had a mining claim 14 miles out of Coulterville and my grandparents were good friends with Frank and his wife.

I had thought to myself that it would probably be noisy, but the reviews on campgroundreviews.com were glowing. Maybe they all used earplugs!

I haven't stayed at Lake Solano--it's too close to home (I'm just up the road at Lake Berryessa).
