Can someone suggest a campground around Brookgreen Gardens which is about 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach. Would prefer a campground south of Myrtle Beach since Charleston will be next destination.

Huntington Beach State Park is directly across Hwy 17 from Brookgreen Gardens. Nice campground but it can be difficult to book a site this time of year. Most sites are 30amp with water but they do have a few full hookup sites. You can find it through www.southcarolinaparks.com

Happy camping!!

Yep.. I agree with Lee. Huntington Beach SP is right across the road from Brookgreen. In fact, at one time it was all part of the same estate. You may be able to book if you are in/out during the week, or you may also be able to book a site on the back loop in the woods. Not as nice as those nearer the beach, but if your main reason for visiting is the gardens, then you'll not mind.

The next closest are the big public campgrounds in in south Myrtle Beach...Lake Wood, Ocean Lakes, and Pirateland. Myrtle Beach State Park is just north of those.

Huntington Beach State Park, best of the bunch. Close to an uncrowded beach.
