We are planning a trip to Austin to visit our son. We have never been to that area and are hoping for some campground information and recommendations. Our rig is 42 ft, double slides on driver side. We tow a car and have a dog. We prefer full hookups. Don't care about the bathroom and laundry as we have both onboard. Thanks for any help!

We're staying in La Hacienda RV Resort and Cabins - 20 miles outside of Austin near Lake Travis and the Travis Dam. Their number is 512-266-8001. It's quite popular and seems to be full most of the time - but we've noticed some openings this week.

The park is a 4W -very clean, very nice folks managing it and on the staff.

Enjoy your stay in Austin.

Bev and Buddy

Thanks for the replies. It always helps to have reviews from folks who have actually stayed in a spot!

Normally, I'd recommend the SP's - either Guadalupe River or Bastrop. But with your 42' rig, I'm not sure how well you'd negotiate the turns/trees.....

McKinney Falls State Park is nice. It's approx. 7 miles southeast of Austin and has several sites that your rig can fit in.
