Any recommended campgrounds for the first week in March on either side of Smokey Mountains in NC or TN.

Thanks, LIKENIT

LIKENIT, You've hit the "motherlode" for campgrounds in that area. 3 that I've used in the past are: Crazy Horse in Cosby,TN. A little pricy but nice. About 12 miles out of Gatlinburg. The other one is Riverside in Pigeon Forge. A lot less expensive and a very nice CG. Last is Big Valley in Townson, TN. $35-$40 a nioght, nice CG. Enjoy the camping.

In Pigeon Forge:
Creekside
Waldens Creek Campground
River Plantation-1/2 mile from a WalMart
Wherever you stay it will be a good idea to make reservations.

We like Tremont Hills Campground in Townsend. We'll be there for two weeks at the end of April.

You probably won't need reservations but will need to see if campgrounds in that area are even open for the season yet the first of March. Its still pretty cold in them thar mountains!

Check out a National Park Campground. We prefer Elkmont (NPS campground near Gatlinburg. This has no hookups but awesome place.

In Pigeon Forge there are a number of campgrounds on Rt 321 and one in particular is Kings Holly Haven. When we go to Pigeon Forge we go to Creekside CG which is a Passport America CG. KOA is a little pricey in Pigeon Forge.
I would not recommend Smoky Mountain Nat'l Park CG as there is no hookups and it gets cold.
There are Cg's in Gatlinburg too however we haven't tried them.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the suggestions. A lot of places were not open yet and we found the best rates by far at Twin Mountains RV Park in Pigeon Forge. http://www.twinmountainrvpark.com/
We were backed up to the Pigeon River with free WiFi and Cable TV for $23.00/night
