Campgrounds near Charleston SC

We will be heading to Charleston around the end of June and was looking for recommendations for campgrounds. Must be FHU and pet friendly. It will be my wife, myself and our little dog. Swimming pool would be a plus. We will be staying about a week.We have a 34' fifth wheel. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If you qualify for military bases, check out Short stay, Joint Base Charleston. Very nice.

Good luck

KOA in Mt Pleasant is great, stayed there several times. Bike paths all the way to Isle of Palms beaches, large lake, pool, not as busy as Charleston but easy access 15 minutes away. Reserve a site along the lake for best views.

We stayed at Oak Plantation Campground last May. The sites are large and set far enough apart to offer some privacy.

James Island is wonderful. They even have an off leash dog park with a beach!

We stayed at James island this past summer and it was just perfect. I could have stayed longer than the 5 days we were there.

Stayed at James Island CG this past July. Nice place, but it had rained a lot just before we got there and it was kind of a mess. Bath houses were very messy and needed attention. Great location though!

I also have stayed at James Island camp ground a great park. We had a 50 amp full hook-up level site that was supper long. A great camp ground located in historical Charleston SC. Some day we may go back after we have seen the rest of the states.

Another vote for James Island. I lived on the island for 2 years, and we used to go to the park for the weekends just to “get away”. Some great places to eat at Folly Beach at the end of the island.

I see a lot of good recommendations for James Island. Thinking of trying it ourselves in May. We will be coming south on 95 from NC. Google Maps shows exiting off on I-26 to Charleston, then onto 17 and finally 30 onto James Island. Just wanted to make sure this doesn't take you into any "unfriendly" RV areas, like narrow streets, sharp turns, etc since I've never run to that campground. Any advise from those who have been there? I've been into Charleston before and experienced some of their narrow streets (extended mirror got slapped by a delivery truck going the other way). Thanks for the help!
