Campgrounds near Lebanon, Illinois

Our grandson has enrolled in McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois. Having trouble finding a campground close to university for Family Day. Does anyone have in suggestions where we can find a place to park our 44 ft Motorhome???

There's a WalMart in Belleville, IL, a Cracker Barrel in Shiloh, IL and a Love's in New Badon. Plus rest areas right on I-64. Dry camping but safe places to stay and even park while you take the toad to see grandson.

You can also look into the American Legion Freedom Farm which has electric hookups which is in Belleville. If you want to venture to East St. Louis, we've stayed at the Casino Queen a few times. A little dicey neighborhood to get through but park itself is very safe and it has full hookups.

All this info was on the Allstays Camp and RV app for your smartphone.

There is also a flat no frills full hookup on the Kaskaskia River in Sparta, illinois. Not super close but was ok. There is not a lot of camping around the St. Louis area.

There is a KOA in Granite City, IL (NE St. Louis of I-270). I pulled in there for 1 night on our way home. Our rig is 60' with toad, we did fit in the pull through but just barely. Not the best KOA I have seen. Part we were in was narrow gravel site but still charged $50 after tax with VKR discount. But it is a place to stay if you need it. Phone App says it is 20 miles from Lebanon.

If Red Barn is closed & your not military , I'd say the next best option is probably the KOA in Granite City .
It's not in a pretty area, kina commercial , but the park itself is decent

For Military, Scott AFB has a reasonable Fam Camp.

I suggest you drive to the park in your toad before taking your motorhome on Scott AFB. One way is OK, the other is so-so and the long way around. [IIRC going past the commissary is the long, protracted way.] The gate guards not always give the best of directions.
