If you like state parks, try fort Mcallsiter or Skidaway Island.

KOA Savannah South is nice. We were there for 6 days last May. Near the Interstate, but not so close that you could hear it. Nice local shopping/restaurants on rt. 17. Nice setting with a small lake.
This was our site:
DW and her sister by the lake at dusk:

We stayed at Whispering Pines in Rincon, GA. It was a nice place and it wasn't too far to Savannah.

We used Savannah Oaks RV Resort as our base when we visited Savannah. We only did an overnight as we were on a timeline. It was a nice enough place. Friendly people.

If you have a couple of days and like laid-back beach towns, Rivers End RV Park on Tybee Island is a nice stay near Savannah. There is a shuttle to Old Town Savannah near the CG.

If you stay here, make sure you go to the crab shack. One word of caution. There two main roads that run right beside the campground. We have had several customers who had lanterns ,chairs and tables stolen.

Upscale is the park on Jeckel (if I've not mangled the name) Island.
Quiet and not exactly in the middle of things, but only 3 miles from I-95 is Cathead Creek RV park in Townsend, GA. 24 sites, Cowboy church on site, 3 miles from Darian outlet mall, about 20 minutes from Brunswick and perhaps 40 from Savannah.

Skidaway Island SP is the best! It has 87 sites (water/elec), is quiet as a church, has beautiful trails, and an Interpretive Center with many artifacts and critters (live and stuffed) from the area. Very clean rest rooms and showers, and washer/dryer for only a buck apiece. Playgrounds too (if you're into that sort of stuff).

Its spelled Jekyl Island. But don't worry about the spelling. I've got by for 71 years without being a good spalar.

Take a look at Hardeeville RV Park. It is just over the boarder in SC, but it is only about a 6 or 7 mile drive into Savannah. Very quiet park, level pull-thru's with all the hook-ups. They don't have a pool or showers, but they are on Passport America so the price is right.
If you are planning on going to "Lady & Son's Restaurant" (AKA Paula Dean's) you have to go in person to make a reservation on the day you want to go. Be downtown at the restaurant about 8:30AM to make the reservation. Strange system but it works for them. Her brother run "Uncle Bubba's" (mainly seafood) and they don't take reservations.
