Campgrounds within "commute" distance of San Jose

We will be attending a family wedding in San Jose in August. Thinking of taking the 34 ft Class A RV to within a "reasonable" drive distance (for the toad) and staying in hotel for the night of the wedding. Trying to avoid city driving for the RV. Any recommendations within about 60-70 miles of San Jose? A closer recommendation that is easily accessible, would be good, too. Will be coming from BC, so north side is preferred.

Not really much north of San Jose, but look around Morgan Hill/Gilroy and you will have several choices. The drive through San Jose is really not that bad as it is a pretty straight shot with few interchanges.

Check www.campgroundreviews.com for great info.

Thousand Trails has a campground near Morgan Hill, it's okay.

Google Thousand Trail Morgan Hill. You don't have to be a Thousand Trails member, but will want a reservation.

You might try the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton. It's about 20 or so miles from San Jose.

I work in the San Josť area not infrequently. Use the TT at Moran Hill. There are a couple three other CG in the Morgan Hill area. Coyote Valley CG is near Morgan Hill is new and a bit upscale. You would have a easy 30 minute (give or take) to San Hose from the Morgan Hill area. Morgan Hill is very nice area overall.

1. There is a Camping World in San Martin off Hwy 101. Don't believe they have any hook-up's for overnighters. But it is FREE.http://www.campingworld.com/stores/ca/san-martin/25/ Short Distance from Thousand Trails Campground.
2. Morgan Hill Thousand Trails Campground is open to the public at approx $45 a day. Morgan Hill RV Campground | RV Resorts in California
3. You can park at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose. RV Space Rental Fees and Rules $30 Daily - $189 Weekly

About 1000 feet down the road from Thousand Trails is Uvas Pines, a much nicer place IMO. Another place would be Gilroy Garlic Ranch RV.

As another poster suggested take a look at them on campgroundreviews.com and I think you will find the one that is right for you.
