We will be taking a trip out to Arizona in late June and early July and wanted to spend a few days around Tombstone and we are looking for suggestions for a campground in the area. We will be traveling with the grandsons ages 8 & 13. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Trailer Life Directory has four RV Parks listed. Also check out arizonaguide.com or azstateparks.com

There is a lot of info on the internet if you do a search.

Jim & Toni: Hi from Casa Grande. We've spent quite a bit of time in the area you're talking about and ya might want to consider parking up at Benson (on I-10) and touring from there. Tombstone is an easy hop from Benson but in addition so are a number of other great places to visit: Cochise Stronghold, Chirachaua Natl. Park, Karchner Caverns, etc., and...Tucson is a simple short shot from Benson. Oh, also, would really suggest visiting Bisbee. ALL of these sights are easy day trips out of Benson. Try Valley Vista RV Park, or Cochise Terrace RV Park in Benson...also a couple others I can't recall. Hope this helps a little. Have fun!! Steve & Lynette

One downside to Benson, train runs right thru middle of town and blows it's whistle at each street crossing ALL NIGHT LONG! Maybe move out of town and enjoy an otherwise great area.

We have stayed at the Stampede RV Park in Tombstone a number of times. It is a short walk to downtown. We haven't been there in about 3 years, but the campground was clean & staff were great the years that we went! Also, if you don't require a pull-through, there is a section of the campground across the street from the main campground that has larger (and fewer) sites. I second "Chicadee" on all recommendations of places to visit - particularly the Chirachaua Nat'l Park and Bisbee. The Queen Anne mine tour in Bisbee is great - but might be a little long for the kids. Enjoy! Michele

Sounds like a great place to visit I am glad it is on our agenda. I don't know if I can deal with trains going through all the time, but I thank you all for the the input. Can't wait to visit this area of Arizona we did the north years ago.

Maybe not this trip, but when you can, visit Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. Probably most beautiful Desert park around.

We stayed at Tombstone Territories in Huachuca City. It's a quiet park in the middle of no where about 10 mins from Tombstone. There's not a lot of activities for kids, but at night we sat outside and could hear the coyotes howling close to the cg and the stars were gorgeous, no city lights to ruin the views. The staff is friendly, one of the most helpful we have run into.

May not be a bad Idea we are rarely around the campgrounds during the day when we have the kids seems we are always out doing something exploring for something new that we have not seen before. Thanks for the response.
